ANC CAUCUS EXTENDS ITS CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF CDE MPUMLWANA

The ANC Parliamentary Caucus has today; Wednesday 23 December 2020 learnt with shock and sadness of the passing of Comrade Advocate Loyiso Khanyisa Mpumlwana. He served in both the Fifth and Sixth Parliament and had recently joined the Sixth Parliament in June 2020.

Advocate Loyiso Mpumlwana had replaced former Honourable Member of Parliament Nomvula Mokonyane and his swearing in ceremony was conducted virtually on the margins of a hybrid Parliamentary Sitting on Appropriations and Budget Votes.

Subsequently he participated in the work of the Public Enterprises Committee.

During the Fifth Parliament Advocate Loyiso Mpumlwana was a member of the Constitutional Review Committee Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation as well that of the Ad Hoc Joint Committee on Probing violence Against Foreign Nationals.

An effective underground operative in the 80s; he worked closely with the likes of cde Jeff Radebe and Mazwi Yako. He was admitted as an Advocate in 1995 and practised as a human rights lawyer from 1997 until March 2012. He dedicated more than twenty five years of his life in fighting injustice. He was detained without trial and tortured many times before he went into exile under the apartheid regime.

It is thus very tragic to learn of his passing untimely passing.

May our thoughts and Prayers be a source of comfort for his family during this difficult hour of bereavement.

Hamba Kahle Qabane. Ugqatso ulufezile! May His Revolutionary Soul Rest in Peace!

Issued by the Office of the Chief Whip; Hon. Pemmy Majodina
