The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is shocked and saddened by the untimely the passing away of Ngqushwa Local Municipality Mayor , Cde Nombuyiselo Magingxa early this morning in hospital after a short illness.
Comrade Magingxa was an extraordinary activist of the ANC, whose leadership qualities were valued in the movement. She served in various political responsibilities that the ANC assigned to her including being a Ward Councillor and Portfolio Head- Community & Corporate Services from 2006 – 2011. Comrade Nombuyiselo Magingxa was elected as Speaker from 2016 at Ngqushwa Local Municipality until her redeployment as Mayor in 2020. She was a member of the ANC Amathole Regional Task Team (RTT).
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mangingxa family, her colleagues at Ngqushwa Local Municipality, friends and the entire community of Ngqushwa and Amathole Region. Her untimely passing is a huge blow to the Municipality and the ANC given the strategic position she occupied as a Mayor.
