The African National Congress(ANC)in the Eastern Cape is deeply angered and shocked at the brutal killing of its Councillor, Comrade Fundisile Ranai and his 17 year old son,Siyolise Ranai at home at Joe Slovo Park in Lusikisiki last night ,Friday16th September 2022.
Councillor Ranai, the Ward Councillor of Ward15 at Ingquza Hill Local Municipality and his son were both shot and killed in the comfort of their home by ruthless gunmen.
We are angry at the senseless killing of one of the most dedicated and hardworking Councillor in our Province. Our hearts are with the Ranai family . This is a tragic loss for the Ranai family, the ANC, the community of Lusikisiki and Ingquza Hill Municipality.
We call on law enforcement agencies to intensify their work to hunt down the perpetrators and bring them to book to the full extent of the rule of law.
We would also like to express our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Ranai family, relatives, friends and community of Ingquza Hill Municipality.
May their souls rest in peace.
