The African National Congress(ANC)in the Eastern Cape welcomes the results of the by-elections which were held yesterday Wednesday, 21 November 2018 .
The by-elections were held in 3 wards at Great Kei Municipality (Komga) Ward 4,6 and 7. Our people once again reaffirmed their confidence in the African National Congress by voting our movement into power in the contested wards.
These results are once again a confirmation that the ANC remains the people’s movement. It is the ANC that is most suitable to lead and work together with the people of this country towards a prosperous South Africa wherein poverty, unemployment and inequality will be meaningfully addressed. We thank our communities for the show of confidence in the ANC and it’s leadership.
We do not take for granted the confidence the people have once again demonstrated in their movement and commit ourselves to redouble our efforts to work with them to solve the problems they face.
The ANC Provincial Executive Committee sincerely congratulates the ANC volunteers and supporters of the movement for this overwhelming success.
We also appreciate the sterling work by PEC deployees and Amathole REC leadership for this great victory.
An unadorned truth conveyed by these results is that the ANC continues to be the only most trusted organisation in our province. The centrality of the ANC in the cause of our people is undeniable.
We equally wish the newly elected three councillors in all the wards success with them knowing that theirs, is to serve and put the people of South Africa at the centre of our project of radical socio-economic transformation. The ANC thanks all those who went to cast their vote, irrespective of the party they voted for.
