The ANC in the Eastern Cape mourns the sad passing of our great liberation struggle heroine, Mama Winnie Nomzamo Madikizela- Mandela . We are deeply saddened by the departure of this great stalwart of our liberation struggle. Her life is the life worth celebrating than mourning.
She dedicated her life in fighting for a just and liberated South Africa. Mamu Nomzamo suffered all forms apartheid brutality but that nerver discouraged her in the fight for human rights. She was a realy source of inspiration , a revolutionery par excellency. She has bequeathed to us a really meaning of selfless leader , prepared to sacriffice for others at all material times.
She inspired a generation of leaders who have since swelled the ranks of the democratic movement and our government. To us she has left huge footprints that tracks our history of suffering, and resilience under immeasurable harassment and dehumanization under apartheid.
Mama Winnie devoted her entire adult life to the struggle against apartheid and the creation of a democratic, non-racial, non sexist society and united country.
Mamu Nomzamo Madikizela- Mandela was undoubtedly one of the most accomplished courageous women leaders who championed the struggle against apartheid. She fought tirelessly to break the disempowering gender divide in our society and contributed through her entire life to the noble fight against racial segregation and class exploitation.
She was one of the first democratically elected members of Parliament in 1994 and was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture in the Nelson Mandela administration, and contributed immensely in the constitution making exercise with which the Constituent Assembly was charged.
Throughout the most difficult times of the struggle for democracy, Winnie Nomzamo Madikizela- Mandela `s strength, compassion and determination served as an inspiration to all of us .
The ANC joins all South Africans in mourning the loss of a true heroine of our nation, a daughter of our soil who dedicated her life to the freedom of our people.
ANC members and all supporters will always treasure the memory of a self-sacrificing servant of the struggle who was a perfect role model for the youth of today.
We have lost a true dedicated volunteer and a member of the ANC in good standing.
We dip our flags in honour of a revolutionary fighter who devoted her entire life to the struggle for freedom , peace and democracy in our country.
Together with all the broader community of the Eastern Cape, the Home of Legends where Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela comes from , the ANC extends heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the Madikizela and Mandela family on this great loss.
