The African National Congress (ANC)in the Eastern Cape welcomes the outcome of the municipal by-elections held on Wednesday, 04 December 2024 in which the ANC scored an overwhelming victory at Ward 11 in Port St Johns Local Municipality.
The ANC won 87% of the vote at Ward 11, Port St Johns Local Municipality in the OR Tambo District Municipality. This represents a 27 % increase from the 2021 local government elections where the ANC won by 60 %. The ANC is particularly encouraged by its performance and strongly believes that this victory is a solid foundation for a decisive victory in the 2026 local government elections.
We are humbled and encouraged by this overwhelming show of confidence by voters which confirms that our messages of renewal and commitment to accelerate service delivery continue to resonate with the electorate. The ANC does not take the electorate’s support and confidence for granted. We urge our newly-elected councillor to hit the ground running and to remain accessible and humble at all times.
