The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is happy with the outcome of the by-elections we contested in three (3)wards yesterday, 27 November 2019.
The ANC has been reaffirmed to be the people’s choice by retaining Raymond Mhlaba Municipality’s Ward 11, Mnquma Municipality’s Ward 20 and Intsika Yethu Municipality’s Ward 13 through a colossal victory during the by-election this past Wednesday.
This victory is a clear sign of the confidence that our people have on the leadership of the ANC. We congratulate Cde Ntombonzi Klaas, Cde Kwandiswa Gobeni and Cde Nosakhele Sonkosi who were elected respectively as Ward Councillors.
We accept this outcome with humility informed by our long held view that it is an honor to serve our people, therefore as revolutionaries we have a sacred responsibility to place the aspirations of our people at the top of our agenda for social transformation.
This is again a clear indication that our people are happy with ANC’s sterling performance in various municipalities throughout the Province and that our movement is growing in all communities.
It is encouraging that while the support for other parties has been diminishing, the support for the ANC in the Eastern Cape has been on a firm increase in the past few years.
We thank the voters and volunteers who worked hard for the ANC victory.
