Following the PWC on the 2nd November

Issued by the office of the ANC EC Provincial Secretary

The ANC EC Provincial Working Committee sat yesterday. The following issues were in the agenda;

  1. Reports on Regional Conferences
    2. Road Map to outstanding Regional Conferences
    3. COSATU Conference
    4. Demarcation

?Chris Hani and Sarha Baartman Regiinal Conferences

The PWC noted the smooth running of these two conferences and congratulated both its levels of success and agree to endorse both of them.

? OR Tambo and Joe Gqabi Regional Conferences

The PWC noted the high levels of challenges in the preparations towards these two conferences that created uneasiness and tensions between contesting line ups. The levels of contestation have almost made it a tough task to make them sit as a result of many disputes from branches and some created unnecessary. As the previous PEC took a decision to engageĀ  leaders in these two reagions, the meeting commended the role played by the provincial leadership to ease tentions as they almost created a complex situation there and for their conferences.

Both the outcomes of these conferences are disputed by branches, the PEC has requested the disputes to be handled by the National Office of Secretary General. As we speak processes to look at both disputes have started. The meeting however agreed that both these be endorsed pending the outcome of disputes. The PWC appeal to branches from these regions relax and allow the process of appeal to unfold smoothly until to its conclusion.

? Buffalo City and Nelson Mandela Metro

BCM has forwarded a report of their readiness. They meet constitutional requirements to sit the conference. The PWC noted that there are 5 disputes that are outstanding and took a decision to postpone the conference by one more week.

NMM is awaiting the audit outcome, immediately when the outcome is confirmed a date will be set. We are hoping to hold it this yr before Christmas.

?The PWC noted COSATU had a Provincial Conference over the weekend. The meeting congratulated the success of the conference and noted this as a step towards stability in COSATU and a step towards live relations in the tripartite alliance. We hope the new leadership will bring back dignity to the labour struggles as the cause if its existence.

?Demarcation, the meeting noted that there are branches affected by demarcation in the province. NEC released guidelines on how to realign ANC structures where they are affected. The PWC calls for branches and regions to follow these guidelines and align structures in time so they are ready for local government elections.
