The ANC NEC met in a special session on Thursday, 30th August 2018 in Cape Town.
The special session of the NEC reflected on a number of issues currently affecting the nation as well as internal organizational developments.
DISSOLUTION OF THE NORTH WEST PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The special session of the NEC resolved to intervene in the North West province to strengthen the organization and enhance its capacity to meet its mandate to the people of the province.
The NEC agreed to set up an inclusive Provincial Task Team that will be seized with the task of uniting the organization and positioning it an effective leader of society.
The Provincial Task Team (PTT) is expected to work with all structures of the ANC, including alliance partners, in guiding the provincial government and in building a potent electioneering machinery going into 2019.
Cde Job Mokgoro, who is already deployed in the North West Provincial Government as Premier, has been appointed as Convenor and assumes political leadership of such a task team.
The special session directed the NWC to convene as soon as possible to finalise and convey to the public names of an all-inclusive PTT which will be reflective of the broad political spectrum of the democratic movement in the North West province.
The NWC will also elaborate on the terms of reference to guide the work of the PTT which will be supported by the NEC deployees in the province.
In the tradition of the ANC and as a disciplined member of the movement, the former chairperson of the Northwest Province, comrade Supra Mahumapelo took part in the discussion and fully accepted the outcome.
The NEC, having received a report from the Elections Head, agreed that maximum attention must now be placed on the election work, in the North West province and across the country.
