The ANC in the Eastern Cape congratulates Cde Nokuzola Sisisi Tolashe on her election as the Executive Mayor of Enoch Mgijima Municipality.
This decision is in line with the PEC decision to intervene in municipalities that have governance challenges. But we also take pride in promoting the 50% representation of women in line with the deployment policy of the ANC when we elect our leadership collective.
Once again, one of the characters that makes the ANC a prestigious organisation is its leadership role in advancing the development and empowerment of women using all opportunities and resources at its disposal.
Cde Nokuzola Sisisi Tolashe is an experienced cadre who is a former ANC Women’s League Secretary General, former ANC NEC member who was twice elected in the 2007 and 2012 National Conference and Member of Parliament.
Her stature and capacity will strengthen the political leadership and stabilize the governance of Enoch Mgijima Municipality.
As the ANC leadership of the Province, we are determined to give Cde Tolashe every support she needs to deliver for the people of Enoch Mgijima.
We call on people and all sectors of Enoch Mgijima to work hand in gloves with the new municipal leadership in order to shape things for the better.
We are now confident that this intervention will change the situation in that municipality.
