The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape welcomes the life imprisonment of Louis Pepping, a former subject advisor for the Eastern Cape department of education.
The 58 year old man was on Friday sentenced by the Mthatha High Court of raping a six-year-old girl at Ngobozana Village in Lusikisiki in 2019.
We welcome this sentence as it sends out a strong message that the law will eventually catch up the perpetrators of heinous crimes against women and children and applaud the hard work and dedication displayed by our justice system. We salute the law enforcement agencies who tireleslly worked on the case whilst ensuring that the perpetrator faces the full wrath of the law.
Our broader society must continue working with law enforcement agencies to curb the scourge of women and child abuse.
