ANC EC WELCOMES R3 BILLION INVESTMENT

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is excited by the historic announcement of an investment of R3 billion and begin production of a new bakkie by the Stellantis Middle East and Africa Automobile Corporation which will see a state-of-the-art Greenfield manufacturing facility developed in the Coega Special Economic Zone in Gqeberha.

Stellantis owns popular vehicle brands such as Jeep, Opel, Alpha Romeo, Citroen and Peugeot . Stellantis’ Operations Manager, Matthew Heugh was hosted today by NMBM and Coega Development Corporation for a tour of Gqeberha; showcasing the beauty of the city and what it has on offer as a business destination. The entry of Stellantis Middle East & Africa Automobile Corporation will make the province home to five global automotive manufacturers.

One thousand job opportunities are expected to be created and the manufacturing company has committed to thousands of hours of training and skills to develop and support the local teams to the level of global standards.

The automotive sector is the backbone of our provincial economy. We want Eastern Cape to continue to have a thriving automotive industry. The automotive sector has remained one of South Africa’s most investment-intensive industrial sectors .

These developments affirm our message to the private sector, local and international, Eastern Cape is open for business.
