ANC Statement on the launch of anti corruption by EC government

As the ANC in the province we welcome the partnership between the provincial government and the HAWKs aimed at fighting fraud and corruption in the provincial government.

We believe that this partnership will go a long way in eradicating fraud and corruption in our government. When we eradicate fraud and corruption, the public purse will be used effectively for service delivery to develop and transform our society and communities.

Fraud and corruption only develop pockets of those propelling this criminality and rob communities, including women, children and other vulnerable groups, access to developmental programmes that makes their lives better.

All the people in the public sector, politicians in positions of public office, accounting officers, senior managers, employees in all levels, must throw their weight behind the programme to fight fraud and corruption in the province.

Fighting fraud and corruption is not something that needs lip service. It demands that our actions nip all criminal elements in the bud in order to protect public resources from being looted by plunders with selfish interests.

We believe that the partnership between the province and the HAWKs will help us win the war against fraud and corruption.

It is important that all those committed to fighting fraud and corruption must report any incident to the law enforcement agencies. But we must also call on the people in the public service and those in the private sector to stop fraud and corruption.

Those involved in such activities must stop it now. They must stop stealing from our people. Government must deal with those found to have acted in a corrupt way.
