ANC Alfred Nzo Region is outraged about the rape of a minor in Matatiele allegedly at Bergview College school premises. The ANC in the Region has taken time to follow up on this case and has also visited Bergview school at which the school was relentlessly defensive alleging that they strongly believe that the incident did not take place at school.
It is the view of the ANC in Alfred Nzo that the school did not do enough to provide support and take responsibility on this matter. During the visit at the school, it was reported that one of the suspects (caretaker) has been placed on other roles within the institution and is not on leave. In the recently issued statement by the school, it is now stated that the person of interest was placed on leave as a precautionary measure which may not be true as per their initial report to the ANC delegation.
These conflicting statements and inability of the Principal to cooperate with law enforcement agencies on DNA sampling leaves much to be desired. In light of these events, it is safe to conclude that a lie is being told to cover another lie and are now unable to keep up. The ANC is calling on law enforcement to move speedily and uncover the truth on this unfortunate incident.
The ANC in Alfred Nzo further welcomes the decision of the Department of Education to deregister Bergview College as the school may be potentially harbouring pedophiles that are tasked to protect and nurture our children.
Pedophiles have no place in our communities and their place is in jail. The ANC will embark on a mass action to put a necessary pressure on law enforcement institutions to speed up the investigation and compel the uncooperative individuals to undergo the necessary tests for the investigation.
