ANC Alfred Nzo Region welcomes the State of the District Address tabled by the ANC Regional Chairperson and Executive Mayor of ANDM Cde Tsileng Sobuthongo at Matatiele Council Chambers.
The contents of the address contained historic and groundbreaking initiatives to position Alfred Nzo Region as a manufacturing and production hub in the Province of the Eastern Cape. Notably, a commitment for the state-funded industrialisation is highly welcomed and commendable. This comes after careful analysis of the realities of our country wherein the mainstream non-financial corporate giants are currently engaged on an investment strike by hoarding trillions of rands in cash reserves.
This unbecoming behaviour by the hostile corporate elites in our country has led to the state of unemployment, poverty and lack of opportunities that we are currently witnessing.
Furthermore, the ANC appreciates practical solutions presented on water and sanitation issues of the District. These commitments were made at the backdrop of serious challenges faced by the district on the state of water and sanitation infrastructure. These challenges were acknowledged and solutions proposed in that regard.
Prioritisation of youth development and empowerment is also warmly welcomed by the ANC with the consideration of Youth Manager for the district. The ANC is also pleased to have learnt that groundbreaking initiatives in this regard have also been made possible including recruitment of over 200 young people on internships, Inservice trainings and Work integrated learning programmes that will soon commence.
The ANC will continue to support the leadership of the District Municipality with its efforts and commitments to better the lives of the people of Alfred Nzo.
