ANC EC CONDEMNS ACTS OF VANDALISM ON R61 ROAD IN PORT ST JOHNS

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape received distressing images of vandalised R61 road at Buthulo Village (Ward 7) in Port St Johns early this morning.

The vandals reportedly dig up the road infrastructure adversely affecting the transport services between Buthulo and Port St Johns. We strongly condemn this criminal act.

This act has not only threatened the provision of reliable public transport to our communities, but also threatened the safety of commuters.

Our communities are meant to be caretakers of the infrastructure that government had put in place and its intolerable to witness those who are unhappy with intra-party matters damaging public infrastructure instead of exploring avenues created by our democratic movement.

We are calling for the law enforcement agencies to swiftly move in and thoroughly investigate such acts. The perpetrators should be taken to task and brought to book.

ISSUED BY THE PROVINCIAL SECRETARY OF THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS, CDE LULAMA NGCUKAYITOBI
