The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape wishes Chippa United Football Club a Happy 10th Anniversary.
Today we celebrate with Chippa United founded 10 years ago by Chippa Mpengesi.
Chippa United has been central in reviving professional soccer in the Province of Legends and been in the forefront in promoting sport tourism in Nelson Mandela Bay and Buffalo City Metro.
We thank Chippa Mpengesi for all he has done and continues to do for the club and football in South Africa.
Soccer is arguably the most successful platform so far in uniting people across racial lines, and has proven to be the catalyst for social cohesion, nation building and reconciliation.
We must all strive to use the soccer to increase social cohesion and provide much needed opportunities for engagement in community life, foster healthy lifestyles as well as reducing conflict and criminal behavior through education and sport.
Once again, Happy Birthday Chippa United.
