The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is saddened by the passing away of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, Queenstown Synod Bishop, Reverend Mthobeli Matyumza who succumbed to Covid-19 yesterday(Tuesday, 15th December 2020) in hospital.
Bishop Matyumza was an outstanding Christian, a devout religious and spiritual leader, humanitarian and a committed family man with laudable qualities we need to build our still healing and cohering nation.
Bishop Matyumza provided solid leadership and allowed God’s voice to lead him as he tirelessly worked. We thank God for his life, witness and ministry over the years, and his steadfast commitment to the gospel imperatives of good news to the poor, through pursuit of justice and equality.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to wife Sisi Vuyokazi, their three daughters, the Matyumza family, the Queenstown Synod, the Bishops and members of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa praying that they will have the necessary fortitude to absorb what is truly a great loss. Well done, good and faithful servant of God! May he rest in peace, and rise in glory.
