The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape has received with shock the saddening news of the passing on of former MEC for Transport and Public Works ,Comrade Thobile Mhlahlo.
Comrade Thobile Mhlahlo passed away last night (Friday,17 May 2019)after a short illness.
He will always be remembered as a humble and dedicated activist, who commanded respect and possessed sincerity. He represented the best values of our Congress Movement and was an activist, who really cared about the people that he served and the country in general.
Cde Thobile Mhlahlo was indeed a brave and a daring cadre of the ANC, loyal and uncompromising on matters of principle and organisational discipline. He is one of those struggle heroes whose contribution to our freedom makes it almost impossible for us to speak of the history of struggle without singling them out for special mention.
The African National Congress conveys its condolences to the entire Mhlahlo family and expresses its indestructible appreciation of the fact that you surrendered your son to the nation. Our nation will, for all time, treasure and honour what he did, so that we should be human again.
We lower our banners for this loyal leader of our Congress Movement.
Hamba kahle Mkhonto .
May his soul rest in peace.
