The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape has learnt with deep sadness the passing away of United Democratic Movement (UDM) National Deputy Chairperson and Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) in the Eastern Cape , Mr Mncedisi Filtane.
Mr Filtane succumbed to Covid-19 early yesterday morning (Sunday, 22 November 2020).
Mr Filtane was an extraordinary servant of the people. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) in the 5th Parliament before his deployment to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature after the 2019 national elections.
He had great respect for multiparty democracy and distinguished himself as an effective opposition leader and tolerant of other political views.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives, friends and colleagues in the UDM. We wish his family courage and strength during this difficult period of mourning.
