The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is saddened by the news of the passing on of popular Tru fm radio presenter, Baxolise Buck Matyila , who passed away this morning in hospital after a short illness.
He started his career with the then radio station called CKI fm in 2007 and was one of the first group of On air Personalities in the SABC’s new youth station, Tru fm.Buck hosted a number of shows in his decade plus at Tru fm , which include speciality Hip Hop shows, the breakfast and also afternoon drive.
An accomplished radio presenter, Buck brightened many afternoons through radio. For the past twelve (12) years , Buck has been a constant presence in many homes, tackling various issues of national importance with wit, charm, respect and in an all-embracing and inclusive manner. It was this ability to converse with and entertain all types of people that also made Buck Matyila a sought after public speaker and master of ceremonies, a job he would carry out with flair.
Buck Matyila’s passing away is a loss to the broadcasting community, particularly the South African Broadcasting Corporation, Tru fm and the Province. There are many South Africans whose lives he has touched with his positivity, professionalism and passion for his craft. His untimely passing is a reminder that we have many wonderful gems within our public institutions whose presence we take for granted. Let us remember him and many others who make our country the truly great nation it is.
