The year 2025 was a year of increased and patriotic activism that saw the 70th Anniversary of the Freedom Charter occupying the public discourse and engagement.
The Freedom Charter is a set of “freedom demands” adopted in 1955 by organisations opposed to apartheid, which included the ANC and its allies.
As we enter the new year, let us do so with more determination to take our province and country forward, characterised by deeper unity and common purpose of building a new nation. Let us join hands to deepen democracy in our country, our region and the continent.
The ANC wishes all South Africans a happy and prosperous year. We reaffirm that South Africa belongs to all those who live in it, united in diversity. Let us all unite in nation building and instil patriotism in defence of the democratic state advancement of our freedom.
