The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is saddened to learn of the passing of prominent businessman and longstanding pioneer of sport development, Tatu Mthetheleli Ngumbela at the age of 81 years.
Tatu Ngumbela was an astute businessman, a renowned community leader and a champion of sport development in particular cricket in our Province.
Tatu Ngumbela was a pioneer of black economic empowerment and a role model for many young black entrepreneurs.
His contributions in such a variety of fields made him a patriot of special quality.
He epitomised a spirit of a particular era in our history: an era imbued with a deep spirit of human solidarity and an abiding sense of selflessness in advancing this vision and his projects to advance and promote sport in deep rural areas of our Province bear testimony.
Bawu Ndlovu as he was affectionately known has left an indelible mark in business, sport development and the reconstruction of our country. He was one of the leading elders of black business.
He leaves a legacy of service, humility, patriotism and dedication to this country and its people.
We express our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Ngumbela family, relatives and friends and accept that death is but part of the ordinary rhythm of life, that dictates that, in due time, all of us must transcend to the world of the ancestors.
Phumla Ndlovu, Mntungwa, Gengesi, Malunga, zidlekhaya ngokuswela umalusi.
