The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape welcomes the election of Comrade Anele Ntsangani as Executive Mayor of Amathole District Municipality , Comrade Onke Mgunculu as Council Speaker and Comrade Nanziwe Rulashe as Chief Whip of Council respectively.
We are happy now the District Municipality has a new leadership which must decisively deal with the challenges of water provision. We are confident that this municipality will turn the corner and create a workable relationship with labour and immediately deal with administrative malfunctioning. The ANC Provincial leadership will give all the support to the new political leadership.
We strongly call on all the social partners, including business, labour, civil society and other community-based organisations to lend this new leadership, ably led by Comrade Ntsangani the same level of support that has become the hallmark of the relationship that the ANC government enjoys with all sectors of our society.
RESIGNATION OF COMRADE BABALO MADIKIZELA AND SWEARING IN OF COMRADE ZOLILE WILLIAMS
The ANC welcomes the resignation of Comrade Babalo Madikizela as a Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL).
Since his election in November 2018, Comrade Madikizela has executed the mandate bestowed upon the African National Congress by the people of Eastern Cape with dedication and commitment. The ANC expresses its gratitude to him for the leadership role he played, as MEC of Public Works and Infrastructure. We wish him well in his future endeavors.
ANC Provincial Treasurer, Comrade Zolile Williams will be sworn in on Monday, 15th August 2022 as a Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL).
