The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is deeply saddened by the tragic and unexpected death of five family members in a fire incident at Mputhi Village, Dutywa in Mbhashe Local Municipality on Friday evening.

This tragic incident that hit the Fadana family comes at a time when our province is still reeling from the effects of the fire incidents that took place over the past few days at Nqabara, Ciko, Munyu and Nyhwara Village in Mbhashe Municipality, and left a trail of deaths and destruction in their wake.

ANC Provincial Chairperson and Premier, Cde Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane will be visiting the Fadana family this morning at 09h30.

We want to assure the family that they are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We want them to know that they have our full support in terms of any psycho-social support and all government agencies have been requested to provide support to the family.

May all their souls rest in peace.
