African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape welcomes the judgment of the Bisho High Court delivered today to set aside the Report of the Public Protector on the Eastern Cape Premier, Comrade Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane and former Public Works MEC, Comrade Babalo Madikizela who took the suspended public protector to court to set aside her report findings which said they had improperly benefited from R1.1m meant for Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s memorial.
The Court reaffirmed the ANC’s assertion that the findings and remedial action contained in the Public Protector’s Report were irrational, unlawful, unreasonable and unfair and that the Court set aside the Report.
We reiterate our call and remind all citizens that the Office of the Public Protector like any other Chapter 9 institution has its primary function which is the protection and strengthening of our democracy and not entangle itself to palace politics.
The ANC is resolute in its stance and fight against state capture and other forms of corruption , malfeasance and wrongdoing.
