The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape wishes the ANC PWC member and OR Tambo District Municipality Executive Mayor, Comrade Thokozile Sokanyile speedy recovery after she tested positive with COVID-19.
ANC Provincial Secretary has been in contact with her and can confirm that she is currently under quarantine. In line with government’s guidelines on the management of COVID-19 cases, we have been assured that steps have been taken to secure treatment of the Executive Mayor and to provide support to her family. Steps have also been taken to ensure that officials and others in the leadership structure of OR Tambo Covid-19 Command Council who have been in contact with her are screened and have heeded the call for testing.
We wish Comrade Thokozile Sokanyile a full and speedy recovery, and we are sending our support to her and to the people of the OR Tambo District.
It is also our pleasure that the Mayor of Engcobo Local Municipality, Comrade Siyabulela Zangqa and Councilors from Chris Hani Region , Comrade Khaya Bizana and Comrade Yanga Zicina are also in good spirits and are making good progress under quarantine at home after testing positive last week.
The ANC wishes all our cadres, who out of their daily duties had contracted the virus and various employees of the state and people of the Eastern Cape who tested positive speedy and full recovery.Let’s all abide by the lockdown regulations as well as precautionary measures which were announced by government as part of curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Be courageous, abide by the regulations, get screened and tested.
