The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape wishes struggle veteran and ANC Veteran’s League Deputy President, Tatu Bonisile Philemon Norushe a speedy recovery after he was admitted to hospital at Keiskammahoek last week.
We are still looking up to selfless cadres and veterans like Comrade Philemon Norushe who had waged an unwavering, fearless fight for human rights, for guidance and inspiration as we deal with ethical and moral leadership challenges that the country is facing.
Cde Philemon Norushe represented a generation of courageous leaders, incorruptible and selfless visionaries who were committed to nation-building, reconciliation, and social cohesion to overcome the legacy of colonialism and racism.
The ANC needed to reclaim the invaluable lessons in humility and servanthood that leaders like Tatu Norushe embodied.
The challenge to current leaders was whether they would live up to the high moral standards set by their predecessors and whether they would maintain the unity their predecessors had worked tirelessly for.
Tatu Norushe is one of the giants that built us a strong foundation for national unity and gracefully passed on the baton for us to sustain freedom and democracy.
We wish this veteran of our liberation struggle all the best, strength and speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and family .
