African National Congress (ANC), President Comrade Cyril Ramaphosa, will today, the 2nd of April 2021, deliver a keynote address at a wreath-laying ceremony at the grave of Mama Winnie Nomzamo Madikizela-Mandela.
President Ramaphosa will be joined by members of the Mandela family, other National Officials including Treasurer Comrade Paul Mashatile; Deputy Secretary General, Comrade Jessie Duarte; as well as the President of the ANC Women’s League, Comrade Bathabile Dlamini; and ANC National Executive Committee members, Comrade Nomvula Mokonyane and Comrade Hlengiwe Mkhize.
After the wreath-laying ceremony, they will proceed to Meadowlands Methodist Church (Mama Winnie’s Church) where they will join a service.
The 2nd of April 2021 marks the third anniversary of the passing of this veteran and stalwart of our movement.
The ANC pays homage to this giant of our revolution and continues to draw inspiration from her sacrifices and unwavering dedication to the liberation struggle. Mama Winnie’s name will forever be inscribed in history as one of the most fierce and uncompromising opponents of oppression and injustice, and the architect of the new democratic South Africa.
