ANC SALUTES THE SPRINGBOKS FOR DOING THE NATION PROUD

The African National Congress joins millions of South African patriots in congratulating our national rugby team the Springboks led by Siya Kolisi on their remarkable victory against England to clinch the Rugby World Cup today in Japan.

Like true soldiers, our boys fought until the last drop of blood. These patriots were prepared to win or die with their boots on. Their actions are a true epitome of patriotism and a display of fortitude on what we can do when we stand together as one nation. Our national pride – Amabokoko – gave true meaning to the rallying call #StrongerTogether.
We hope this exceptional performance displayed by the team will be sustained.
We are confident that this victory will generate a positive momentum of success across all our national teams and in the life of our nation. The Springboks have set an example worthy of emulation.

Sport is one of the biggest catalysts of social cohesion and nation building, bringing together all South Africa’s people.

We wish to express our gratitude to our President, Cde Cyril Ramaphosa and all our people across the country for their loyal and passionate support to the Springboks. This is the motivation and inspiration they needed to overcome all the odds and be crowned world champions.

To the team and Siya Kolisi, we say: “Thank you for reigniting the Madiba magic – and making our Rainbow nation come alive. You put your people first and made us proud. We will forever be grateful for your blood and sweat on the field of play”

END
