The ANC’s Eastern Cape PEC has noted the withdrawal of all the charges against Cde Andile Lungisa, a member of the Provincial Executive Committee, and his other 3 (three) accused by the Johannesburg Commercial Crimes Unit recently.
Mr Lungisa has maintained that he is innocent of all the charges, however, out of the respect of the justice system and the fact that there were charges against him, he voluntarily tendered to withdraw his participation in the PEC until this matter has been resolved. That the matter is now closed, he will be resuming his participation
Mr Lungisa had highlighted to the PEC that the matter was a civil dispute and not a criminal issue. It was postponed on a number of occasions until the court decided to withdraw the charges.
As the ANC we wish to assure everyone that no tax payer was prejudiced through this as all the funds were repaid.
We welcome back Cde Andile Lungisa to help us in our process of self-introspection and the rejuvenation of our beloved organisation.
