The ANC in the province congratulates all Eastern Cape artists nominated for the annual SABC Crown Gospel awards. We believe that it is their talent, gifts and good music production that has earned them these nominations.
Many of these awards are not voted for and we urge the people of the province to hope and pray that all other provincial artists nominated, which include, Vovee Batala, Veliswa Skeyi will win in the categories they are nominated for.
Most importantly, we urge the people of this province to vote for Bethusile Mcinga’s song, Zundithwale, which has been nominated in the song of the year category.
Bethusile is the son of the Eastern Cape, hailing from rural areas and his success from being a village child to being a gospel music star must be celebrated by all of us in the province.
The people of this province have been supporting our artists, Bethusile in particular with buying music and going to his shows. It is now time for us to beef up that support by voting for him to win the song of the year award.
No one but the people of the province will promote our artists. In the previous years, we voted for our provincial radio personalities, Journalists and radio programmes to win awards like the SATMAs and the Choral music awards.
We won in those awards because we were united as the province. It is more of that unity that we are calling for in these awards.
We have a duty to support our provincial artists because if we don’t, their ability to produce more music and to entertain us will be curtailed. We call on all the people of the Eastern Cape, wherever they maybe working to vote for Bethusile’s song. This is how people should vote: SMS: song Zundithwale to 34069.
All those who will be voting are requested to vote daily to increase his chances to win the award. When Bethusile wins, the people of the Eastern Cape will win because the songs he sings represent our ways of praise and worship in our churches and other places of worship.
Supporting Bethusile through voting for his song is a sign that as the people of the province we support our own young people in their chosen careers. We appeal to the people of our province to vote for their own because other provinces do the same when it comes to these music awards and competitions.
We also call on the people of the province to vote for all Eastern Cape nominees in the upcoming South African Traditional Music Achievement Awards taking place in our province this weekend. We need to support our musicians, journalists, radio stations and radio presenters.
People of the Eastern Cape should vote for Daily Dispatch Journalist, Lulamile Feni, Umhlobo Wenene’s Saba Mbixane, Zahara, Zola Soul, Ntando, Unanti Njamela, Sijadu, Jessica Mbangeni, Skeeper Somntwana, Gqobo lwempundulu, Ndondayibuzwa, Valangentsimbi.
