The African National Congress in the Eastern Cape welcomes the appointment of Siya Kolisi as the Captain of the National Rugby Team,the Springboks.
We congratulate Mr Siya Kolisi on his achievement which is duly deserved
based on his experience, skills and leadership.
The appointment of Siya is historic and we wish him well on his tenure as the Captain of our Springboks.
Siya Kolisi has an impeccable experience record on the field as a player. The Zwide township born rugby player is an inspiration to young people and his appointment affirms that Eastern Cape is the home of legends.
Rugby continues to play a critical role in promoting nation building and social cohesion in South Africa.
He takes over the reins of the Boks as a highly-qualified individual and we are convinced he will take the national team to the next level.
We wish the Captain, and the team under his stewardship great success with the trust that he will be given space to lead the team.
The ANC calls upon all South Africans to rally behind the national team and the captain , giving them the necessary support to propel our nation’s rugby ambitions.
