The President of the Republic, His Excellency, Cyril Ramaphosa, has approved a request by Eastern Cape Premier, Hon. Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane – MPL, to accord the late Eastern Cape businessman and philanthropist, Advocate Mteteleli Ngumbela a Special Provincial Official Funeral: Category 2.
“U-Tata u-Ngumbela is one of the citizens of our province who has demonstrated wholeheartedly his deep commitment to the socio-economic advancement of our people. His endeavors as a businessman and community builder were in line with our Provincial Development Goals.’’
‘’When we talk of partnership with business and civil society for the development of our province and communities, we mean what uTata uNgumbela was doing! He was a true embodiment of the spirit of patriotism and love for his people. He did not ask: ‘What the province can do for me’. Rather, ‘What can I do for the province’? Without him, we are literally poorer!”
Premier Mabuyane says Ngumbela’s immense contribution to the development and upliftment of sport and employment will forever remain with us. “We really appreciate his contribution to society. His sudden death will create a gap that will take a momentous task to fill. May his sole rest in peace!” said the Premier.
The President of the Republic of South Africa has instructed that the National Flag fly at half-mast in the Eastern Cape Province on the day of the funeral of Advocate Mteteleli Ngumbela as a sign of respect to him.
