ANC EC statement on the passing away Of Amampondo Queen-Mother

The African National Congress in the Eastern Cape has learnt with deep sadness of the passing away of Queen Fikelephi “Bongolethu” Ndamase, the mother to His Majesty King Ndamase on Thursday, 07 June 2018 at the St Mary’s Private Hospital in Umtata

Queen Ndamase aged 56 was admitted to the hospital in the morning of 06 June 2018 for observations and routine tests related to diabetes.

Queen Bongolethu is the daughter of the late King Sobhuza II of Swaziland and was married to iNkosi Mabalengwe Ndamase who passed away in 1988.

She acted as a Regent Queen from 1997 following the death of King Tutor Ndamase and led the nation until her son, current King Ndamase Ndamase ascended to the throne in 2008.

While we mourn her loss, we must thank her most profoundly for her generosity of spirit and for teaching the nation humility, respect for human dignity and compassion for the weak, the poor and the downtrodden.

The Queen leaves behind her two sons, His Majesty King Ndamase and Prince Bonga Ndamase.

To the Ndamase family we say: take solace from the knowledge that our Province share your pain and are with you as you prepare to lay to rest the Queen-Mother .
