ANC Alfred Nzo Region has learnt with shock about the shooting of a student at Walter Sisulu University premises. The now deceased student reigns from Alfred Nzo in Matatiele town. He left home in search of education in order to change the plight of his family only for his life to be cut short by criminals masquerading as guardians.
It is rather disheartening to have learnt of the conduct of Walter Sisulu University in handling the case of the deceased student. The behaviour is rather barbaric and inhumane further inflicting pain to the family and loved ones. A life has been lost and the University is preoccupied with cover-ups and image protection of the university.
The ANC in Alfred Nzo will today accompany the Minister of Higher Education and the ANC NEC member Cde Nobuhle Nkabane to visit the home of the student in Matatiele Subregion. During this visit, the ANC will further engage with the Minister to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice and dealt with accordingly by the Department including those who played a role in trying to vulgarise this heinous crime.
