The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape congratulates all the students who have passed their 2022 Matric exams.
We are excited by the 77.3 % pass rate achieved; signifying a serious attitude towards improving quality outcomes in our education system. This 4,3 % increase in the percentage pass rate is a great victory for the Province which has seen upward mobility in terms of pass rate for the past four years under the able leadership of MEC Fundile Blacks Gade. An excellent indicator of the state of education in the province, the ANC understands this 4.3 % improvement as a good sign leading towards the attainment of the organisational goals the ANC has for our society.
The credit for this success must go to the teachers, who did everything possible to help the students who kept focussed on studying, to the parents who encouraged and supported them and the management of Dept of Basic Education. We commend all stakeholders despite the challenges including the Covid 19 pandemic conditions and loadshedding faced by learners. This is the affirmation of the commitment made by the late Education Superintendent General, Mr Themba Kojana that the Province is aiming for 80% Matric Results during his time as an accounting officer.
These positive Matric Results boosts our confidence in the provincial government’s resolve to improve the standard of education for all in the Province. It is one measure by which we can safely pronounce that the ANC led government is on a right path .
