The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is humbled and happy with the outcome of the by-elections we contested in eight (8)wards yesterday Wednesday, 19th May 2021.
The ANC has been reaffirmed as the people’s choice by retaining Ward 17 at Intsika Yethu Municipality, Ward 11 Amahlathi Municipality, Ward 34 King Sabatha Dalindyebo Municipality, Ward 3 Port St Johns Municipality, Ward 9 Port St Johns Municipality, Ward 28 Mnquma Municipality, Ward 11 at Matatiele Municipality and Ward 17 in Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality through a colossal victory during the by-election this past Wednesday.
We want to thank our communities for voting for the African National Congress (ANC), which remains the most popular movement and revolutionary choice of the people.
Much as we appreciate the positive outcomes in these elections , we are noting the continued low turnout at the polls and we will intensify our voter education throughout the Province, ensuring that we get our communities to go out in their numbers to vote. Municipalities must play their part in enhancing civic education through their public participation programs.
The positive growth we achieved during Wednesday’s by-elections gives us oomph to continue mobilising support to reclaim Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and Kouga Local Municipality in the local government elections on the 27 October 2021.
The African National Congress sends its gratitude to the volunteers, footsoldiers and supporters of the ANC who worked tirelessly and selflessly in the build-up to these by-elections. We are equally thankful to all voters across the Province who took their time out to cast their votes.
