The ANC in the Eastern Cape is outraged by the callous and brutal murder waged by the apartheid Israeli regime on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and Israeli occupied Palestinian territories after 40 people were killed , and more than 2000 injured by Israel forces when protesting against the opening of US embassy office in Jerusalem .We condemn such barbarism and flagrant violation of international law in strongest terms possible. These rightwingers ( Trump and Netanyawu) must be held responsible for these barbaric killings.
We condemn with all the contempt it deserves, the US and Western imperialism for always supporting Israeli violence and violation of the rights of the Palestinian people to live freely and independently in their own land of birth.
The ANC calls on all peace loving people and workers of the world to unite against this oppression and violation of the human rights of the Palestinian people. We also call for the intensification of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against the apartheid Israeli regime. We especially call upon South African workers to put pressure on all companies with South African operations to pull out of economic activity in the occupied territories of Palestine.
We therefore call on Minister Lindiwe Sisulu`s Department to push for our government to sever all ties with the Zionist Apartheid State: expel the Israeli ambassador,Lior Keinan , and applaud our government for recalling South Africa`s ambassador in Tel Aviv, Sisa Ngombane. The ANC in the Province also calls all progressive governments to immediately cut diplomatic ties with apartheid Israel.
No longer can South Africa and the world be silent in the face of such oppression and killing of innocent Palestinian people.
In line with our ANC 54th National Conference policy resolutions, that called on “all South Africans to support the programmes and campaigns of the Palestinian civil society which seek to put pressure on Israel”, branches and structures of the ANC across the Province must join the Palestine solidarity and boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement in organizing protests and pickets calling for the immediate end of Israeli violence against the Palestinian people. We call on all South Africans, Black, White, Jewish, Muslim, Christian and all others to join us in expressing our solidarity. Solidarity will brings us together as different South Africans just as how the international anti-apartheid movement brought people together.
We are calling for the immediate evacuation of the Israeli occupied Palestinian territories and the establishment of two states, based on a viable and sovereign Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital. The ANC condemns all Israeli manoeuvres and operations aimed at making the achievement of this just goal unrealisable.
The ANC in the Eastern Cape reiterates its standing call for urgent intervention by the United Nations to stop the Israeli atrocities and for ensuring an ever urgent resolution of the situation facing the Palestinians.
We call on all our members and supporters to join the National Protest in Support of Palestine at City Hall,Nelson Mandela Bay today(15 May 2018)starting @ 12h00 .
