The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape has learnt with sadness
on the passing away of businessman and struggle activist, Comrade Vrij Harry , who passed on today after a short illness.
The passing away of Comrade Vrij Harry, Managing Director of Harry’s Printers in East London has robbed us of a father, a grandfather, a husband, a brother, a friend, a colleague, a visionary, a leader and a servant of the people.
Comrade Harry has been a staunch supporter of the ANC since the unbanning of political organisations in 1990. He made immense contributions to the making of the new South Africa. Comrade Harry’s life was lived for the realisation of a united, democratic, non-racial, non-sexist and prosperous South Africa. Comrade Harry made a sterling contribution to the struggle for liberation and sacrificed a lot in his life to ensure the attainment of freedom and democracy. He was one of the few legends who still upheld the founding values and principles of our democratic movement and the liberation struggle.
We will always remember Comrade Harry as a selfless citizen and businessman who did not seek accolades, regardless of his personal achievements and the positive impact he made in the lives of others.
We send our sincere deepest condolences to his wife Mrs Karuna Harry , relatives, friends and the Harry family for the loss of a loving husband, a father and a grandfather.
Please find solace from the knowledge that the entire movement share in your grief. The entire family of the progressive movement and the people of this province share in your loss. To us who knew him well , we are more than convinced that he has left an indelible mark.
Hamba Kahle Mkhonto.
