The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape welcomes the foundation-laying first State of the Province Address in the 7th Administration delivered by the Premier Comrade Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane at the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in Bhisho.
The SOPA was a clear demonstration that the ANC-led government has understood the urgent mandate the people of the Eastern Cape have charged us with.
It placed emphasis on tackling the pressing challenges of economic growth, youth unemployment, job creation, human settlement , road infrastructure and crime prevention.
On the 10th of February 2025 , ANC Eastern Cape Provincial Executive Committee held its Extended Meeting wherein all its Leagues, Alliance structures and Mass Democratic Movement formations deliberated and developed the ANC Government Tasks for 2025 which has subsequently shaped priorities of the 7th Administration which are:
• Economy, Jobs and Infrastructure
•Fighting Crime & Corruption
• Education, Skills Revolution and Health
• Integrated Human Settlements
• Safety, Social Cohesion and Food Security
• Building a Capable, Ethical and Developmental State
We further welcome the provincial government investment of another R70 million to assist students in distress within the higher education sector to settle students debt clearance.
The ANC is elated by the announcement that in the next financial year , provincial government will be gazetting 600km of our roads, many of them gravel roads which are going to beupgraded by SANRAL for the benefit of our communities. These include T15 road from Mount Frere to Matatiele ,Buffalo Pass Road in East London, R63 road from Debenek to Keiskamaahoek, R352 road from Keiskamaahoek to Sutterheim. R67 road from Glen Melville Dam to Gwabeni and the Mpetsheni to N2 Wildcoast road.
At the heart of the work of the ANC-led 7th Administration will be a people centered approach. Cognisant of the fact that no government can claim legitimacy unless it is based on the will of the people. The ANC has committed to regularly go back to the people to update them on the implementation of the agreed plan.
The ANC is confident that Team Eastern Cape (which is composed of women and men) upon whose shoulders rests the mammoth task of realising the aspirations of the people, will collectively under the leadership of Comrade Mabuyane, as Premier, ensure that the lives of the people of our Province are changed for the better.
