African National Congress in the Eastern Cape welcomes the honouring of the Provincial Chairperson Cde Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane by the General Assembly Council of the Evangelican Presbyterian Church of South Africa ( EPCSA ) during the function that was held at Zimbane Valley near Mthatha in the Eastern Cape on Saturday, 31 March 2018.
This takes place at a time when the world is celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Chris and that signifies that church has always been the corner stone of the formation of the ANC since its inception 106 years ago.
The Council of the EPCSA confer “The John Calvin Leadership” which is the highest” award to Cde Mabuyane which is named after the founder of the church John Calvin.
According to the church Cde Mabuyane is awarded for his leadership and stewardship he displayed during his tenure as the ANC EC Secretary at the Provincial Headquarters, Canon James Calata in King Williams Town.
The EPCSA also believed that during Cde Mabuyane’s two terms of office as the Provincial Secretary, ANC in the Eastern Cape has reclaimed its space in national politics.
Speaking during the service the Secretary of the church Reverend Matshawandile Bacela said: “Today we pride ourselves with political stability because of the leadership provided by the former Secretary, Cde Mabuyane in the last two terms in the office.”
Reverend Bongani Finca is the first person to receive this award in the history of the church in the Eastern Cape followed by the mother of the late former ANC President Cde Thabo Mbeki, the late mama Nomaka Mbeki. In yesterday’s church service (31 March 20180) Cde Mabuyane became number three in the list of beneficiaries of this kind of an award.
The ANC in the Eastern Cape is humbled by this profound gesture that is bestowed upon the ANC EC Provincial Chairperson Cde Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane.
