The African National Congress sends its condolences to the family of Mme Bagethiwe “Joyce” Bapela who passed on early last week. Mme Bapela is the mother of ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member and Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Comrade Obed Bapela and will be laid to rest today, 17 January 2018.
A dedicated activist and selfless servant of the people in her own right, Mme Bapela’s passing leaves a deep void in the community of Alexandra and the Greater Johannesburg Region. An unsung heroine of our people, she lived her life as a testament of the tenacity and perseverance with which our people waged their struggle for liberation and freedom.
May the Bapela family be comforted by the knowledge of a full life well lived and may Mme Bapela’s beloved soul find eternal rest.
