The African National Congress in the Northern Cape has learnt of the horrific accident, where a bus headed to the Namakwa Region from the 108th Anniversary celebrations in Kimberley collided with another vehicle, 15km out of Upington on the N14 near kalksloot around 21h30 last night. The Provincial Secretary, Comrade Deshi Ngxanga together with the regional leadership who were on the scene last night managed to ensure that those who had sustained minor injuries were taken to the Harry Surtie Hospital in Upington. The members were released from hospital, accommodated at a Bed and Breakfast in Upington and were enroute to Namakwa this morning.
We send our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the driver of the other vehicle who passed on during the accident and wish those who sustained injuries a speedy recovery. The leadership of the ANC will soon visit the home of the deceased.
The ANC would like to encourage all those who would be driving back to their different destinations today, a safe journey back, remember to obey the rules of the road and don’t drink and drive.
