The African National Congress (ANC) welcomes the relief measures announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on behalf of government, to reprioritise financial resources to the tune of R500 Billion for economic and social relief as part of the National Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
This massive social relief and economic
support package put together by government, will go a long way in addressing aspects of our country’s economic recovery strategy, stimulate demand and supply, intensify the infrastructure build programme, the speedy implementation of economic reforms and ignite inclusive economic growth.
This signifies government commitment to place the lives of ordinary people of our country at the centre of the development agenda, in particular the poor and working class.
We are confident that government will work with speed to implement the measures announced by the President to provide some relief in particular, for the distressed Municipalities, the Unemployed people and Small Medium Enterprises (SMMEs)
Although COVID-19 Pandemic remains a challenge that will not be us forever, we call on our people to remain hopeful and work together with government in providing the best possible solutions for a better future of our country.
Finally, the ANC calls on all our people to act together in the most responsible way, so that we can finally overcome the devastating results of this pandemic.
