ANC welcomes the class of 2014 matric results

Issued by the Office Of the ANC EC Provincial Secretary

As the ANC EC, we welcome the improvement of the matric results as announced by the Minister last night. We are impressed by the improvement although we did not reach our target of 70%. We definately see the hard work from the planning and implementation of key interventions. We are confident that in long term we will realise and be amongst the best. As education is amongst our priorities,  our mission will always be in making sure that we  put all our efforts in addressing the backlog caused by underdevelopment in education facilities in all communities and in schools, address the infrastructural challenges and continue to engage communities about the work we are doing. Education remains a matter of our communities.

We acknowledge improvement in key subjects like maths and science,  the top learners are coming from EC, We really appreciate the hard work by those schools who achieved high. We congratulate those learners who performed very well, they have made us proud under the conditions.

We are equally concerned about the alleged copying labelled as identified in some areas in the province. We urgently call upon the investigation taking place to speed up and be finished, the sooner the better as well for those affected learners in order to be integrated in the results so they are not victims of being unable to look for schools and financial assistance. We also call for rapid finalisation of the matters affecting the office of the HOD as that office is the center of administration stability in the department. We thank and appreciate the work done by the MEC and officials in his department, we still have confidence in him as the ANC, he has our full support.

The ANC Government is taking education very serious, we will continue working hard to do more to better the conditions. We still have to receive the detailed report from our province and we take it from there with our plans to deliver more.
