PRESS STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF MRS LAURA MPHAHLWA

Issued by the Office of the Premier on 3 June 2019

It is with profound sadness that we learn of the passing of Mrs Laura Mphahlwa, affectionately called Aunt Laura by both young and old.

On behalf of the Eastern Cape Provincial Government, I send our heartfelt condolences to the Mphahlwa family, friends, business associates, children and grand children of Aunt Laura. We wish them strength as they deal with this tragic loss.

As we mourn the death of Aunt Laura, the Eastern Cape Provincial Government appreciates the role she played and the contribution she made in growing our province during her lifetime.

Aunt Laura, who was a loving mother to her children, loving wife to her husband, was both a prolific entrepreneur and a generous giver with a heart to help those in need to get a better life.

We call on the people of the province to learn from the life of this prolific patriot who started and sustained her business enterprise through difficult times.

As we mourn the passing of the people’s Aunt Laura, we owe it to pioneers like her to work together to grow the province by transforming our economy so that entrepreneurs benefit from the economic opportunities to create decent jobs for those unemployed.
