The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape commends the police for the arrest of three suspects for the murder of
Councillor Nomxolisi Nqwena – Maliwa who served as the Chairperson of Ethics and Members Interest Committee of Mbhashe Local Municipality.
Comrade Maliwa’s body was found inside her vehicle at Ngcingwane Location in Dutywa with a gunshot wound in her head on the 17th February 2023.
According to statement from the Office of the Provincial Commissioner , the three men , aged between 29, 36 and 41 respectively were arrested on Wednesday 8 March 2023 at Dutywa and Willowvale by SAPS Serious and Violent Crimes Unit . All the suspects are from Dutywa and the murder weapon and the vehicle used in the commission of the murder were both recovered by the police .
We praised the police for the arrests and we urge the law enforcement agencies with NPA to work hard to ensure that the killers are convicted.
The ANC denounces the killing of our comrades and call on the public to continue providing information which will help the law enforcement agencies to put a stop to this scourge.
