HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

This coming Tuesday Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane will be leading the Eastern Cape Provincial Government (ECPG) at this year’s Human Rights Day Commemoration in Mdantsane.

Where we will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the forced removals of indigenous African communities from East London to Mdantsane and also honour Mdantsane’s first of many world-class boxing greats, Nkosana ‘HappyBoy’ Mgxaji.

Over the years, we have witnessed Mdantsane establishing itself as South Africa’s Home of Boxing, and this is due to the pedigree of local boxers who have emerged from the township to become world-class champions who would influence the success of the sporting code, dominating at provincial, national, and international levels.

Despite the hardships experienced by the communities of Mdantsane, they rose from the ashes like a phoenix and began to define their existence outside the imposed poverty, dispossessions and oppression.

Come join us for a fun-filled day at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Tuesday, 21 March 2023.
