The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is outraged by the naked racism and thuggery displayed by a white male at the parking bay of OK Store at Beacon Bay in East London.
The white male brandishing a firearm on his waist was caught in a viral Facebook video ramming on the Hyundai H1 car causing severe damage .
We call on the police to quickly arrest this racist and face the full might of the law and urge the affected family to open a case of intimidation and damage to property. The Human Rights Commission must also spring into action as all effots are needed to arrest the spread of racist conduct in our communities.
These barbaric actions are informed by the desire of white racists who imagine we still live under the apartheid regime which legislated, legalized and institutionalized racism in South Africa. Racism cannot be tolerated in this country where many martyrs have paid the ultimate price to fight and dismantle the racist apartheid regime. We call on progressive forces to fight head on this systemic racism that continues to treat black people as second-class citizens in their own country.
We urge all South Africans to unite against the regressive tendency‚ close ranks and defend‚ advance and deepen transformation to achieve our national vision of non-racial‚ non-sexist and prosperous society.”
